Course: 635 - Video Game Design: Characters and Effects – Certificates of Competency
Course Description –Continues from Intro to Video Game Design with more complex projects, involving both 3D modeling and game engine integration. Prerequisite for this class: Video Game Design 1 or teacher consent.

At the end of this course you will be awarded a Certificate of Competency/Completion.
Students earning a grade of A or B will receive the" Certificate of Competency".
Students earning a grade of C will be awarded the "Certificate of Completion".
Students earning a D will not receive a certificate.
Those students earning an A are given a certificate titled "Level Artist".
Those students earning a B are given a certificate titled "Production Assistant".
Those students earning a C are given a certificate titled "Game Studio Assistant".
Below are three lists indicating the skills you should have when awarded one of the three COC's.

Level Artist
- Demonstrates importance of reading, writing, listening & speaking.
- Demonstrates critical thinking and problem solving skills.
- Demonstrates practice of workplace health and safety laws.

- Demonstrates collaboration, teamwork, conflict resolution, and leadership skills.

- Demonstrates an advanced knowledge of low poly inorganic 3D modeling techniques.

- Creates complex, original textures using PhotoShop and Illustrator.
- Able to translate textures from PhotoShop to game engine.
- Able to translate models from 3D software into game engine.
- Demonstrates ability to light scenes for maximum mood and dramatic effect.
- Demonstrates advanced knowledge of game engines.
- Creates complex environments integrating indoors and outdoors.
- Strong knowledge of UDK interface: Content Browser, Material Editor, Static Mesh Editor, Kismet, and Matinee.
- Demonstrates exceptional knowledge of game play.

Production Assistant
